How sync works
Brim syncs through Apple iCloud (CloudKit): notes, attachments, tags, and recycle-bin state stay consistent between your Mac and iPhone automatically, and the data lives in your own iCloud account. There's no Brim account to register and no third-party service to sign in to — if your devices are signed in to iCloud, you're set.
What you capture on your Mac appears on your iPhone; what you jot down on your iPhone syncs back to your Mac.
What sync requires
- Brim Pro: iCloud sync is a paid feature; the free plan doesn't sync (data stays on the local device);
- One purchase, both platforms: monthly, yearly (with a 7-day trial), or a one-time purchase — every option unlocks both Mac and iOS at once (see Free vs. Pro);
- System and account: both devices signed in to the same iCloud account with Brim allowed to use iCloud; macOS 15.0+ on Mac and iOS 18.0+ on iPhone.

Your data stays yours
Sync is provided by Apple; Brim's developer runs no servers that read or host your notes. If iCloud is unavailable, the app falls back to local-only storage and keeps working on that device (details in Where your data lives).
