Free vs. Pro: what's included and what the limits are
What the free plan includes
The free plan's capture experience is fully usable: pulling out a note from the screen edge, Markdown lists, tab indentation, style shortcuts, tags, image attachments, and the manager panel with search — none of the core capture flow is locked.
The free plan's limits are about quantity and sync:
- up to 4 notes;
- up to 4 tags;
- up to 3 images;
- no iCloud sync between devices (data stays on the local device only).
If you use Brim lightly on a single device, the free plan works indefinitely.
What Pro unlocks
Upgrading to Pro unlocks every advanced feature:
- Sync across both platforms: notes sync automatically between macOS and iOS via iCloud — no extra account or sign-in (requirements in iCloud sync requirements and troubleshooting);
- Unlimited quantity: no caps on notes, tags, or images;
- All future updates: Pro includes every feature update released afterwards.
Purchase options and trial
Brim offers three ways to buy, and one purchase unlocks everything on both Mac and iOS — no separate purchase per platform:
- monthly subscription;
- yearly subscription (includes a 7-day free trial with full features; trial eligibility is determined by the App Store);
- one-time purchase.
Actual prices are shown live on the App Store page.
Upgraded but Pro isn't active?
Purchases belong to the Apple Account used at checkout. If Pro didn't activate after upgrading, or your entitlement disappeared after switching App Store accounts, follow the complete steps to restore purchases.
