Pro stopped working after switching Apple Accounts? How to restore purchases

Why Pro stops working after an account switch

App Store in-app purchases (subscriptions or the one-time purchase) belong to the Apple Account used for “Media & Purchases” at the time of purchase — not to Brim. Brim doesn't run its own purchase account system, can't see your Apple Account information, and can't merge the purchase records of two Apple Accounts.

So when you switch the “Media & Purchases” account on your device, StoreKit can't find a valid purchase under the current account, and Brim can't confirm your original entitlement. Pro features (such as iCloud sync between Mac and iPhone) appear locked again. Your purchase isn't lost — it just lives under a different account.

How to restore your purchase

  1. Switch the device back to the Apple Account you used when you bought Brim Pro (the “Media & Purchases” account).
  2. Open Brim's purchase settings.
  3. Choose “Restore Purchases”.
  4. Restoring may show a sign-in screen provided by Apple — follow the prompts to finish.

Once restored, your Pro entitlement takes effect again immediately on that device. One purchase covers both Mac and iOS: after restoring on one device, the other recognizes the entitlement under the same Apple Account.

Limitations to know

  • Restore Purchases can only recover purchases that belong to the currently signed-in Apple Account. If you're not sure which account you used, try each account you may have purchased with.
  • Brim can't look up “which account holds my purchase” — only Apple can see that. You can check your own purchase history via reportaproblem.apple.com or your App Store account page.
  • The 7-day free trial on yearly plans is determined by the App Store; restoring purchases doesn't change trial eligibility.

Still not restored?

If Pro is still inactive after switching back to the correct account and choosing “Restore Purchases”, email feedback@brimmemo.com with:

  • the Apple Account email you're currently signed in with (never your password);
  • roughly when you purchased, and how (monthly / yearly / one-time);
  • your devices and OS versions (macOS / iOS);
  • an order number or receipt from the App Store if you can find one (please redact unrelated personal information).

We'll help you troubleshoot further based on these details.
