How to use tags, search, and image attachments

Tag a note with "#"

Type "#" anywhere in a note to tag it. Tags are displayed separately on the note — always visible, never covering your text.

Tags work as global markers: the same tag can appear on any number of notes, and you can later filter by tag in the manager panel to pull up every note on a topic.

Limits: the free plan allows up to 4 tags; Pro removes the cap (full comparison in Free vs. Pro).

Search and filter in the manager panel

Brim's manager panel takes its cue from Spotlight: one floating panel to manage every note, without hunting across desktops.

• Notes are laid out in three tiers — starred, recent, and everything else — so the important ones stay visible;
• Type text or a tag in the search field to filter;
• Click a result to jump straight to that note on its desktop.

When you're looking for a note, there's only one thing to remember: bring up the manager panel.

On iOS, search comes with a dedicated tag entry point so you can narrow things down quickly.

Images are attachments only

In Brim, images never take part in inline layout — they exist purely as attachments:

• each note can hold up to 3 images;
• images are marked with an icon instead of being inserted into the text;
• hover the icon for a preview, or click to open the viewer.

The idea is to keep you focused on capturing the thought, not on formatting. On iOS, tags and images are added and managed through dedicated buttons.
